Hempcrete's Fire Resistance

Building with Hemp fire test on hempcrete

Please note, this video below doesn't feature hempcrete, but it shows why, in my opinion, spray foam should be OUTLAWED in new construction in California. When it burns, it turns into an INFERNO. It releases so many toxins into the air and ground, and those toxins will eventually get into our water supply! It seems like there isn't a single area in this state, that isn't at risk for a serious fire, due to climate change. Look at how flammable the spray foam is! Again, this is just my opinion but it really seems like this is the VERY LAST thing we should be using in houses. Especially when we have such a cheap, fire-resistant, non-toxic, termite-resistant, highly insulative, carbon-sequestering, healthy building material like hempcrete!

How fire resistant is Hempcrete

Please note, I think it's much safer to put hempcrete (rather than hemp batting) into walls, because although the video below shows that the hemp fibers don't burn, I did see a different video that shows they can burn somewhat, without a lime binder (that's found in hempcrete). I'll post that video (by Belinda Carr) below this one.
